EXPERIENCED SURFACE LAND ADMINISTRATORS

Since 1997, Aurora Land Consulting Ltd. has been a Leader in Surface Land Consultation and Land Management Solutions. As an established Broker, we offer our clients a comprehensive array of land acquisition and consulting services, with a focus on efficiency, accuracy and integrity. Aurora’s team of Land Managers, Project Coordinators, Administrators and Land Agents allows us to support, manage and execute any project from preliminary planning through final reclamation.

Aurora Land is searching for experienced and talented Surface Land Administrators, one Full-time Position and one as a Full-time Contract Position (possible to become salaried employee) with both based in Edmonton, AB.  If you have acute attention to detail, be highly organized, self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment while being part of a supportive team environment, we encourage you to consider joining out team!

As a Land Administrator (Aurora), our full-time position will:

  • Prepare and process Surface Leases, Right of Way Agreements and related documentation.

  • Prepare and process Public Land applications.

  • Identify and manage third party agreements.

  • Complete Directive 56 notifications.

  • Track and document consultations conducted by Land Agents.

  • Perform SPIN, EDS, ISC, ILRS searches and registrations as required.

  • Generate and maintain electronic and hard copy land files.

  • Update Land Management database and maintain accurate project reports.

  • Support Land Managers, Project Coordinators, Administrators and Land Agents as needed.

As a Land Administrator (Aurora), we offer:  Monday- Friday schedule (37.5hrs/wk), overtime, a competitive salary based on experience, comprehensive benefit package, RRSP matching program and support for professional growth and training.

As a Contract Land Administrator (client), our contractor position will:

  • Be contracted to one of Aurora’s Clients in Edmonton and will be onsite at client office

  • Coordinate projects of First and Third Party crossings (i.e. Crossing Takes)

  • Work closely with numerous project groups and acquire all permitting required as it relates to permanent and temporary crossings

  • Must have knowledge of all aspects of third party acquisition

As a Contract Land Administrator (client), we offer:  Monday-Friday schedule (40hrs/wk), set contractor rate per hour OR open to negotiate a salaried position with benefits as listed for a Land Administrator (Aurora).

For both positions we are looking for candidates with:

  • 2+ years of Surface Land Administration work experience in Alberta and Saskatchewan

  • Land Administration Certificate and/or working knowledge of surface land practices, procedures and documentation

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)

  • Familiarity with AER OneStop and AEP EDS systems considered an asset

  • Familiarity with project tracking databases in a billable time environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

RECEPTION/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Aurora Land is searching for a superhero to work their magic as a Full-time Receptionist/Administrative Assistant to keep our Edmonton, AB office running smoothly.  If you are highly organized, self-motivated and most importantly, enjoy being the first point of contact, we would like to hear from you!

You will be responsible for:

  • Directing all forms of office traffic from office walk-ins, incoming calls and email management

  • Processing, tracking and distributing incoming and outgoing mail/couriers

  • Printing courier invoices and matching them to the packing slips

  • Ordering all office and kitchen supplies as well as maintaining the kitchens

  • Arranging service calls for office equipment

  • Maintaining various file systems digitally and hard copies

  • Arranging all social events

  • Providing assistance to the Land Administration team

  • Providing assistance to our other company as vacation coverage

  • Other administrative tasks as needed

 What we are looking for:

SENIOR REMEDIATION PROJECT MANAGER - EDMONTON

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Manages and oversees small to large size technically complex projects;

  • Prepare proposals, including cost estimates and work scopes and schedules;

  • Acts as an agent of business and is involved with developing relationships with key customers and understanding our customers' concerns and priorities;

  • Oversee project team including field technicians and any 3rd party operators in order to meet project objectives and budget expectations;

  • Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) to ensure proper field procedures are adhered to, providing training where necessary

  • Provides technical support to field service offices;

  • Works with management on collections issues as it relates to managed projects;

  • Documents all aspects of managed projects and compiles site data required;

  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the business;

  • With support of office management team, assist with procurement for projects including materials, equipment rental, temporary labor, and subcontractors;

  • Provides timely, concise and relevant information to superiors and subordinates;

  • Provides technical support for proposal preparation, project cost estimates and subcontractor selection and procurement;

  • Enforce the policies and procedures as it relates to Health & Safety to co-workers and contractors. 

  • Promptly responding to non-compliances identified through inspections and assisting other departments in compliance with site environmental policies and permit conditions.

  • Supervising and scheduling projects.

  • Supervising, training, and mentoring Environmental technicians, students, and seasonal staff regarding remediation activities, data management, and safety.

Specific Skills and requirements we are looking for in a Senior Remediation Project Manager:

  • A university degree or college diploma in environmental science, environmental technology, or a related field is required.

  • > 5 years’ experience in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan within the Oil & Gas or Environmental Industry. 

  • Professional Designation (P. Geol. P. Ag., R.T. Ag., P.Eng, P.Biol)

  • Minimum 5 years of Remediation Project Management experience

  • Risk Management Experience (Completion of SST and Tier 2 courses is preferred)

  • Experience with technical report writing and preparation of associated appendices which may include borehole logging, groundwater mapping and remediation diagrams

  • Knowledge of pertinent provincial and federal environmental regulations

The Following skills and Experiences will also be critical to successfully performing this role:

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Project Managers in developing and implementing remediation / risk management plans for complex sites.

  • Completion of environmental site assessment, groundwater, remediation, and reclamation projects.

  • Supervise field programs including internal teams and third-party contractors.

  • Preparation of Phase 2 and 3 ESAs scopes of work

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary subject matter experts to conduct risk assessments and assist in developing site specific remediation plans.

  • Asist in maintaining relationships with clients, regulators, landowners, and other stakeholders.

  • Compile various technical documents including Phase 2 ESA reports and remediation reports to support regulatory closure applications.

  • Work closely within multidisciplinary teams (biological services, subject matter experts, data management, GIS) to successfully execute client projects and programs.

  • Provide mentorship, support, and training to junior team members.

Specific Skills and requirements we are looking for include:

  • A minimum of 3 years of consulting experience related to environmental site assessment, remediation and/or risk management

  • Good understanding of the Alberta Tier 1 and 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines and associated technical guidance documents.

  • Good understanding of upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements in Alberta (AEP and AER), and Saskatchewan.

  • SST and Tier 2 certification is considered an asset

  • Willingness to travel and be in the field as dictated by project requirements

  • Ability to work remotely from a home-based office

  • University Degree or Diploma in environmental science or related discipline

  • Registration or eligibility to obtain designation with a professional organization in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan  (i.e., Alberta Institute of Agrologists, APEGA, Saskatchewan Institute of Agrology, etc.).

  • Excellent communication, writing, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Working under the general supervision of senior staff, the applicant will be responsible for completing general office work associated with various environmental projects throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan. General office duties will include; file set up, template generation, work processes, preparation of regulatory documents on behalf of clients, overseeing document management, support data entry and reporting from client and internal systems, review QA/QC documents and reports, assisting with contractor management and promoting corporate, safety and environmental policies.

INTERMEDIATE ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST - EDMONTON/LLOYDMINSTER

Currently, we are looking for motivated individuals with an environmental background to join our team. One position is available in the Edmonton office, and one based out of the Lloydminster office. The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

Working under the general supervision of senior staff, the applicant will be responsible for completing field work associated with various projects throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.  Fieldwork will include: Environmental Field Assessments including Phase I, II & III, DSA’s, well testing and wetland assessments, EIA and Environmental Monitoring.  Office work will include providing advice and recommendations on project specific assessments and regulatory requirements, technical reports with field data review, coordination of sub consultants and mentorship of junior staff and consultants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in natural resource management, environmental sciences, equivalent education will be considered

  • Professional designation or eligible for one of the following would be considered an asset; RPF, RPFT, Geol., P. Ag.,R.T. Ag, P. Biol., R. Biol.or R.T. Biol

  • A minimum of three to five years of work-related experience.

  • Experience with field activities and technical report writing

  • Knowledge environmental regulations/policies.

Aurora is looking for energetic environmental professionals and consultants based in Edmonton and Lloydminster, with 4-plus years of experience related to Phase I, II, III ESAs and soil and vegetation assessments.  A Bachelor of Science degree or diploma is required. Experience with both Alberta and Saskatchewan environmental regulations will be an asset.
